Shinobu Whisky
Born from Snow, Rice, and Sake
As the first whisky distillery to represent the prefecture of Niigata, Japan, Shinobu stands a testament to the artistry and pioneering spirit of its founder, Ken Usami. Known first for founding Niigata Beer Company, Usami dreamt of crafting a local whisky that reflected the rare natural wonders that Niigata has to offer, most notably its “three white treasures” - snow, rice, and sake. Niigata’s mountainous altitude and snowfall bless the region with an incredibly pure water source, combining with its indigenous rice grains and sake distilling techniques to create a new realm of whisky unique to the Niigatan landscape and culture.
