The Hosomi Private Collection
The Hosomi Private Collection consists of works collected by the late Osaka industrialist, Hosomi Ryo. Currently in its fourth generation, the collection includes virtually all branches of Japanese art, such as: Japanese antique artworks from the Heian to Edo periods; notable collections of Itō Jakuchuū, Rinpa Arts and a vast collection of ancient Byōbu’s; Muromachi ink paintings; Negoro lacquer ware and tea ceremony kettles; Buddhist statues from both Kamakura and Muromachi periods; Momoyama ceramics and cloisonne’s.
The Hosomi Private Collection also holds notable masterpiece artworks by Katsushika Hokusai; as well as over two dozen “Important Cultural Properties” recognized as National Treasures of Japan, making the Hosomi collection perhaps the most remarkable in the world of Japanese Antique Art.
